Overview

Munsys - Asset Intelligence Suite (Munsys Ai) is a rapidly deployable spatial application suite that ensures data integrity and provices multi-user accessibility to infrastructure asset information throughout an organization.

Ready access and the ability to maintain accurate infrastructure asset data enables the management, planning, decision-making, mapping and reporting requirements of the organization. Moreover it contains all the technology necessary to administer an asset mapping and management system, capture all spatial data, distribute the data to necessary personnel and integrate the information with other departments for optimum efficiency.

The Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications are rich in functionality, compliant with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) storage specification. Munsys Ai provides the full benefits of a traditional GIS system in an efficient and user-friendly spatial solution that reduces the Total Cost of Ownership.

Expanding upon the proven technologies of AutoCAD and Oracle, the Munsys Ai utilizes an innovative approach to coordinating, and facilitating the accurate capture of Infrastructure Asset data. 

 

The Challenges

A key challenge faced by managers of above and below ground utilities is the seamless integration of CAD and GIS. Often, the accurate information captured in design drawings is lost as it is transferred to a GIS.

The integration that Munsys Ai offers with AutoCAD, Oracle and its adoption of OGC standards solves this traditional problem.

Engineers access accurate design information using familiar tools. The identical information is available to GIS applications from ESRI, Intergraph, and MapInfo for analysis and visualization.

Network Specific rules eliminates errors at point of data capture

Munsys Ai provides spatial rules "out-of-the-box" for multiple utility disciplines (See Module List), this ensures data is entered correctly at the point of capture. Specific connectivity rules are automatically applied to utility networks, to assure the high integrity of data when supplying outage management information.

These rules ensure that the user does not make errors that are common when capturing spatial data e.g. duplicate points, lines, polygons. Amongst many rules Munsys Ai ensures that nodes are snapped to pipes, lines or conductors according to the engineering rules for that discipline.

True multi-user Spatial Editing

The Munsys Ai database access component utilizes a Corporate Application style of record locking that is uncommon in the digital management of spatial data.

In the same way that your Payroll Personnel system only allows one user at a time to maintain and update an employee’s record, Munsys Ai treats spatial data in the same manner. Each point, line or polygon that is extracted for update locked for update. Multiple users can lock records for update simultaneously and Munsys Ai will manage which user needs to be refreshed with the updated view.

Our unique record locking of spatial data eliminates the need for versioning and treats spatial data like other corporate data, emphasizing that "Spatial data isn’t Special" in its treatment in a modern database.

Open and Extensible data model that does not lock you in

The Munsys Ai data model delivered "out-of-the-box" has undergone nine generations of improvement for each discipline. This means that 90-95% of your data model needs is delivered within the application. The remaining 5-10% can be added to the data model to meet your specific requirements. This is achieved through a comprehensive Management Console, furthermore the management of generic spatial data delivered through a user definable Spatial Data Manager.
